Pavlína Černá
Czech Republic
2021
Pavlína is Czech living in Pennsylvania, USA, since the summer of 2013. She has always been passionate about writing (and reading), people and their stories, which led her to get a degree in tradi- tional journalism from Temple University in Philadelphia. While at Temple, Pavlína worked first as an international colum- nist and later as a managing editor for The Temple News, a hyperlocal stu- dent-run newspaper. Simultaneously, she was an editor for Freely Magazine, work- ing closely with international students, helping them develop and tell their sto- ries. The majority of her journalism work revolves around feature and opinion writing about immigration, whether it is making sense out of new laws affecting the international community or covering historical events leading people to relo- cate to the United States. Pavlína currently works on translating a book from Czech to English, hoping to write her own one day.
