I am a native of České Budějovice “where everyone would like to live“ (a reference to Jára Cimrman). My greatest interest lies in how life works. Since the phenomenon of life is quite complicated, knowledge across various disciplines from philosophy to natural sciences is needed to grasp it.
During my studies at the Jírovcova Grammar School I engaged predominantly in biology. Participation in the Czech Biology Olympiad enabled me to take part in international olympiads, thus influencing me substantially. I was awarded silver medals at the European Union Science Olympiad and at the International Biology Olympiad.
The Learned Society of the Czech Republic awarded me the Grammar School Student Award for conducting a research on invasive ladybirds at the Department of Zoology at the University of South Bohemia. My aim is to pursue the Natural Sciences Course at the University of Cambridge where I would have the opportunity to study the molecular mechanisms underlying life. My favourite leisure activities are playing badminton, reading, swimming and organising entomological excursions.
