August 20, 2020
In the middle of the summer, while commemorating eight years in Prague, the Aspen Institute Central Europe also announced its new Executive Director, Milan Vasina. For several weeks Milan has worked in tandem with his predecessor, Jiri Schneider, planning autumn events and visiting the Institute’s partners and sponsors.
In recent years, Aspen has established itself as a place for discussion and opinion-sharing, from which emerge new ideas and initiatives to address the notable challenges of today's society, both in the Czech Republic and in other Central European countries. "Eight years ago, at the birth of Aspen in Prague, we believed that it would play an important role in supporting an open, dynamically developing democratic society and the growth of value-oriented leaders. We are delighted to see these aspirations being fulfilled. Aspen, as led by Jiri, has also taken root in other countries in the Central European region and is helping to strengthen strategically important transatlantic ties. Milan Vasina brings new energy and we are looking forward to where Aspen will continue to go under his leadership," said Michaela and Zdenek Bakala.

Speaking of the Institute’s future goals, the new Executive Director said: "At Aspen, we would like to address three priorities in the future, that lead to the prosperity of any society. Value leadership and its practical implementation through our programs - Aspen Young Leaders Program and the Executive Values and Leadership Seminar. Another priority is education, not only within the education system, but also throughout life. Here we work with a number of companies and institutions on the concept of re-skilling and up-skilling. And last but not least, digitization and the use of its positive impact on the growth and competitiveness of society is an important priority for us."
Milan worked for more than twenty years in the telecommunications company Radiomobil and later served as CEO in its successor T-Mobile, from 2011 to 2018. Since leaving its management, he has been working as a consultant and coach.
