The Bakala Foundation will launch the 16th annual Scholarship program on Friday, November 15, enabling Czech students to fulfill their dream of studying at some of the world’s most prestigious universities. To date, the foundation has supported 216 scholarship recipients studying at 63 universities across 12 countries. Applications for scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year will be open until January 15, 2025.
Students interested in comprehensive bachelor's or master's programs can apply to the Scholarship program from November 15 through January 15, 2025. Applicants may be students interested in medicine, physics, or mathematics, as well as those in purely technical, humanities, or arts disciplines. In the past, successful applicants have enrolled at institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Harvard, Berklee College of Music, and other prestigious schools.
Graduates of foreign programs now have the assurance of recognition of their qualifications. "In September this year, we signed a memorandum with Charles University, which will make it easier for our scholarship recipients to return to the Czech Republic. It will allow them to apply for scholarships without concerns about the recognition of foreign education," claimed Václav Pecha, Director of the Bakala Foundation.
Scholarship applicants will go through a three-round selection process again this year. Key criteria include academic excellence and the financial need for the scholarship to pursue studies. The application must also include an essay on a chosen topic and one or two letters of recommendation. In the final stage, selected applicants will be invited for personal interviews with an expert jury.
"This year, we are again hosting information seminars and workshops for applicants, where they will receive tips and advice on how to write a strong essay, an integral part of the application. We also assist students with choosing a specific school and field of study. We stay in close contact with students throughout their studies, providing guidance and support," said Jana Wittbergerová, manager of the Scholarship program.
Info seminars in the premises of the Student Hub of the Bakala Foundation in Prague 1, Malá Strana, can also be accessed online. All the dates and registrations to seminars can be found in the
